| Town Council
The governing body of the Town of Spanish is Council.
It consists of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and three Councillors. Members of Council are elected for a four-year term office.
The Town Council meets the first Wednesday and third Wednesday
of every month. Meetings are held at the Municipal Office, 8 Trunk Road.stating at 7 PM.
Having both legislative and executive responsibilities, Council deals with matters which require policy direction, bylaws or bylaw amendments and responses or actions to pertinent issues.
Town Council is responsible to all citizens of the town and must weigh each of its
decisions accordingly. Council must ultimately meet the needs of the entire community
and act in the best interests of the town as a whole.
During its review and decision making progress, Council has an obligation to recognize the
efforts and activities that have preceded its deliberations. Council should have regard
for
the public involvement processes that have been completed in support of projects, and Councilors should be prepared to discuss their rationale for their decisions in light of that public involvement.

Gary Bishop, Mayor
"My main goal as your Mayor is to help our community to be the best that it can be while maintaining a good financial foundation. Council will invest strategically to secure our roads, water system, sewer and waste control assets, while striving to do the extras that can enhance the quality of life for our residents and those we hope will visit or move here to join us." |

Ted Clague, Deputy Mayor
I feel such pride in our home Town of Spanish. I am proud to live here. I am proud that my family enjoys life in Spanish.
My Promise is simple and straight forward, I will work with my fellow Councilors in an open, positive and engaging manner, I will make decisions in the same way you would because at the end of the day we all aspire to a stronger more vibrant community. Encouraging a sense of pride and always striving for improvement. It is important to all of us to understand that our dream will not come easily.
Everyone and in particular our children and our seniors would like increased services. While all of these wants are important in their right they can only be supported through sound financial planning. |
